Installation and configuration of INTERPLAY equipment at WMCLab (University of the
Peloponnese)
Moving from conceptual design to real-world implementation is a key step towards integrated and resilient infrastructures.
The INTERPLAY project has now entered its experimental phase, focusing on building the infrastructure that will support system integration and testing in the final phase of the project.
Setting up the Experimental Infrastructure
A key milestone in this phase has been the successful delivery and installation of specialized equipment at the Wireless and Mobile Communications Lab of the University of the Peloponnese (Tripolis, Greece).
Ongoing installation and integration of the core infrastructure supporting the INTERPLAY
experimental platform.
From Setup to System Integration
With the infrastructure now in place, the project moves towards its next technical steps, including:
- Initial configuration of sensing and communication components
- Development of data handling and processing workflows
- Early-stage integration of system elements
These activities mark the transition from conceptual design to functional implementation.
Rather than introducing a standalone system, INTERPLAY explores how existing sensing and communication infrastructures can be brought together into a coherent and operational framework. The INTERPLAY architecture connects distributed sensing devices, communication networks, and data processing components into a unified system.
Research Activity and Early Results
In parallel with infrastructure development, early research activities within the project have already led to accepted contributions in scientific conferences:
- 20th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2026) https://www.eucap2026.org/the-conference-2026
- 8th Panhellenic Conference on Electronics & Telecommunications (PACET 2026)
https://sites.google.com/g.upatras.gr/pacet2026 - 2026 International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES) Symposium https://aces-society.org/conference/Greece_2026/
These results reflect the ongoing technical work supporting the development of the INTERPLAY system.
Looking Ahead
The next phase of the project will focus on system integration and the preparation of initial testing scenarios, paving the way for the first functional demonstrations of the INTERPLAY framework.
