George Tsoulos

George Tsoulos graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Athens, Greece, and received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Bristol, Bristol, UK, in 1997. From 1994 until 1999 he was a Research Associate and then a HEFCE Research Fellow at the University of Bristol, working in the area of wireless communication systems with particular emphasis on smart antennas. Then, he was with the Global Technology Centre of the PA Consulting Group, Cambridge, UK, until 2002, working for leading companies across the world in the design and analysis of advanced wireless communication systems. Between 2003 and 2004 he was with the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems, Athens, Greece, in the context of program ENTER, and then collaborated until 2009 with the MFOL of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA, Athens, Greece, in the context of a PENED research program on MIMO communications.

He joined the University of Peloponnese in 2005 where he is now a Professor at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, Director of the Wireless and Mobile Communications Laboratory and Director of the MSc ‘Modern Wireless Communications’. He has more than 160 publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings, international books and book chapters, technical contributions to standards. He has been involved in pioneering European collaborative R&D projects, like RACE TSUNAMI, and ACTS TSUNAMI, SUNBEAM on smart antennas in the 90’s, or more recently Horizon 2020 BIMERR, MERLON, COREnect on building renovation with wireless sensors, electric vehicles and the European 6G strategy, respectively. His current research interests include advanced wireless communications systems, UAV and THz communications, as well as energy and ICT. He has been a Senior Member of IEEE since 2002 and an elected representative in EurAAP since 2015. From 2013 to 2016 he served as the R&D Vice Rector of the University of Peloponnese.
